PAPER-BASED SURVEYS

Paper surveys have long played a role in canvassing customer feedback and opinion. Whether they are filled-out by customers on-the-spot, or taken away and returned later by mail, paper forms continue to provide a reliable, low-cost and low-technology approach to hearing customer voice.

Scanning filled-in surveys saves time and effort

Paper forms present users with two basic types of questions: those where selections are made from a range of choices (eg. by ticking boxes) and those where free text comments are invited.

When processing returned paper forms, there are two steps: reacting to each form as an individual customer comment, and collating the data across many forms for broad insights. As the volume of returned paper forms goes up, manually collating the tick-the-box responses quickly becomes onerous. That’s where scanning plays its part, reading the forms by machine then saving and aggregating their data for reporting.

Opinionmeter makes it easy

Opinionmeter brings you scanner-ready paper-form creation as an integral part of our core technology. This is fully integrated with all the survey creation, deployment and reporting tools described on this site. With Opinionmeter, the same survey you create for touch-screens and your online/email campaign can be turned into a paper survey as well, easily. The only additional items you need are a scanner and suitable Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) software to interact with it. Both are available from us if you wish, but easily sourced elsewhere.
